I Should be Embarrassed to Admit This

I should be embarrassed to admit this, but I am not.

Why not?

This story is a testament to the resilience and determination that all small business owners and entrepreneurs can relate to.

Last November, my gym, NIKA Athletics, started to take a dive.
We had experienced a gym split and were in the midst of finding our new identity.
From November to July, the gym managed to stay afloat, breaking even, until August when we, as a team at NIKA, decided enough was enough—it was time to take action.

We set an ambitious goal: become profitable in just 90 days.

And as of today, we’ve done just that.

Here’s how we did it:

  1. We defined our avatar client, diving into the specifics of who this person is, their age, their exact problems, and where they spend their time.

  2. We created a tailored solution to address their specific problem.

  3. We educated our staff about this client profile to ensure everyone was on the same page.

  4. We started marketing directly to this client, focusing our efforts where they are most active. Here’s a hint: this client spends a lot of time on Facebook.

  5. We nurtured leads, guiding potential clients toward making an appointment to visit us, where we could offer them a personalized solution to their problems.

  6. We invested our care and attention in these clients, showing them just how much we value them.

  7. We encouraged them to bring their friends, spouses, and loved ones—and they said yes!

  8. We demonstrated that we are the solution to their problems, showing them tangible results of our services.

  9. We scheduled regular check-ins, meeting with each client every six weeks to identify any new challenges they might be facing.

  10. We repeated this process, ensuring continual growth and improvement.

I am proud to share this story, not out of embarrassment, but as a testament to my capabilities as a business and lifestyle mentor.

I am great at my job.

Together with my amazing staff, we were able to turn an entire business around in just 90 days.

On Friday, I shared this story with my mentor. His reply was poignant: “We never know how great we are at helping others until we do it for ourselves.”

I am proud to say that I am great at helping businesses grow and reach profitability in just 90 days.
