The Simple Habit That Transformed My Business and Life

The Simple Habit That Transformed My Business and Life

I’ve been a small business owner for 14 years. For 12 of those years, I ran a gym, and for the last 2, I’ve been building The Bee. Along the way, I’ve learned just about everything you can imagine—how to grow a business, generate leads, market with confidence, sell products, lead a team… the list goes on.

But in the last six weeks, I discovered something that has had a bigger impact on my mental health, business growth, and relationships than anything else I’ve learned over the years.

It’s not a complicated strategy. It’s not a groundbreaking idea. But it’s a game-changer.

The 3 Things Habit

Every morning, I sit down with my coffee, my cat, and my journal, and I write down three things I will accomplish that day.

That’s it.

These three things can be related to my business, my health, my relationships, or even small personal tasks. There are no strict rules, except one: they must be things I can control.

I can’t write, “Win the lottery,” but I can write, “Send this email.”

Why This Works

Writing things down isn’t just about making a to-do list. It’s about making a commitment—to yourself. The physical act of writing connects your brain and body in a way that simply thinking about tasks doesn’t. It transforms intentions into actions.

But there’s a second step to this habit that makes it even more powerful.

Reflect and Celebrate

The next morning, before I write my new three things, I look over the list from the day before and take ten seconds to feel proud of what I accomplished.

This simple act of reflection reinforces a positive mindset. It reminds me that I am enough, that I’ve done enough, and that the more I believe this, the more I can achieve.

Why You Should Try It

This habit has simplified my days and given me clarity. It’s helped me focus on what truly matters and has made me feel accomplished at the end of each day.

So, are you in?

Try it for a week. Sit down each morning with your coffee (or tea), your journal, and your favorite pen. Write down your three things. The next day, take a moment to reflect and celebrate your wins, no matter how small.

And if you do, I’d love to see your setup! Send me a picture of your coffee cup of choice, your journal, and your favorite pen.

Here’s to small habits making a big difference.
