How I Crafted this Amazing Life of Mine

Recently I have been spending a lot of time reflecting on exactly how I created this amazing life that I have in my businesses and with my lifestyle.

After hours and hours of contemplation, I figured out the formula.

It is equal parts Embracing Failure, seeking a Mentor, and mastering the art of planning.

Step 1: Embracing Failure
While I don't claim that failure is essential for everyone's journey, I firmly believe that if you aren't failing, you aren't pushing yourself hard enough. The beauty lies in repeated failures; they allow you to refine your approach and identify areas in your life that require enhancement.
For the first 30 years of my life, I was lost. I wore a mask to please others, neglecting my own happiness. The first 3 years of my business reflected this, as I let others dictate its direction due to my fear of confrontation. My second business failure a few years later was flawed by ignoring warning signs. However, this time I was prepared for the fallout, knowing the corrective measures to take.

Step 2: Seek a Mentor
I can confidently say that I wouldn't be where I am today without the guidance of my mentors. It took time to identify who they were and their roles in my life. Some I hired for their expertise, some I paid merely to be in their company, and some became friends.
The common thread?
I always ensured I was surrounded by individuals who were more accomplished than me, those who had walked the path I aspired to and were willing to guide me.

Step 3: Mastering the Art of Planning
I've transformed into a meticulous planner over the years. I've cultivated the habit of segmenting various aspects of my life into daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly, and 3-year goals. My life's "buckets" include:

  • Fitness

  • Faith

  • Appointments

  • Tasks

  • Meals

  • Content Creation

  • Family Time

  • Vacations

  • Personal Goals

Every Sunday, I dedicate time to organizing these categories in my planner. I tackle one at a time, brainstorming, reviewing past entries, seeking inspiration from platforms like Pinterest, and aligning with upcoming training.
Every quarter, I set objectives in the "6 F's":

  • Family

  • Faith

  • Fitness

  • Freedom

  • Finances

  • Future

Annually, Kara and I revisit our goals and refresh our 3-year vision. This balance of short-term and long-term planning is a cornerstone of the formula that has blessed us with a fulfilling lifestyle and thriving business.
